Expungements

Arrest records, charges that have been dismissed and, of course, criminal convictions can all impact your future in getting an education and career opportunities. Matthew can help you understand the process, whether or not you are eligible for a expungement, and help you succeed. All petty misdemeanors, misdemeanors, and gross-misdemeanors are eligible for expungement. When it comes to felonies, expungement eligibility depends on whether or not there was a dismissal, acquittal, successful completion of diversion, or if a conviction, if the felony is one approved for expungement by the State Legislature. Minnesota Statute §609A.02 lists felonies eligible for expungement following a conviction. https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/?id=609A.02

If the felony is not on the enumerated list in the statute above, a statutory expungement is not permitted, but you may still seek an expungement under the Court’s inherent authority to seal its own records.
